Day 3- Wild Wilderness

Starting our day off with a nature walk within the Ecolodge was a neat experience. We saw so many unique animals we have never seen before like bats, poison dart frogs, toucans, giant hercules beetles, and howler monkeys. It's crazy to think that when first arrived at the lodge, we did not notice any of these animals, but after the walk, we began to see them everywhere. It started to rain really hard and we all got super soaked. It was scary at first because we do not get rain like that in California, but it cooled us down a lot and now it is something we now look forward to.

One of the coolest things we get to do here in Costa Rica is meet new people. Some of the people we enjoy getting to know the most are the staff. We get to improve our Spanish when talking to them which allows us to feel more in touch with the culture. Once again, lunch was delicious. You can tell that the staff here really cares about us by feeding us a wide variety of great food.

The best bonding activity we participated in was The Amazing Race. We competed in activities at some of the homestay families' houses. It was so great to meet them because it eased some anxiety about the homestay experience that we are all feeling a little bit. The families were so welcoming, caring, and we could really tell that they were excited to have us. The activities were fun, but some definitely pushed us outside of our comfort zone. We milked cows, made fresh tortillas, tried yucca, and did a super challenging team bonding competition. We all got closer through these challenges.

We are now off to dinner, but we are so excited to visit some of the community projects we will be working on while we are here in Costa Rica.

So much love,

Saanvi and Sara
