Day 6- Soccer and Sweets!
Hi Guys! It’s Jamie and Kiran and we’re going to write today’s blog!
Last night, we were warmly welcomed by our homestay families at our homestay houses! It was super cool to get to know all of them and see their way of life. One of the homestay brothers, Sebastian, had his first birthday and we were all invited to his party! We danced, sang, ate dinner, and played familiar card games like Uno. It was a super fun way to get to know everybody and we all felt as if we were already part of the community.
We started our morning off right with breakfast in our home-stays and then met to go to play fútbol with a bunch of local kids. The organization they were a part of Academia de Futból which meets every Saturday to play soccer with the intention of keeping the kids out of dangerous lifestyles. Justin played his heart out… so much so that at one point he kicked the ball so hard that his shoe went flying farther than the ball itself.
After an exhausting and sweaty game of soccer, we went to go take a dip in the river. The water was refreshing and Randall helped some people swim all the way to the other side!
After a delicious lunch, we departed to Costa Rica Best Chocolate, a small cacao farm focused on sustainability and conservation. We were able to see (and taste!) every step of the chocolate making process, from raw cocoa beans all the way up to 70% chocolate; it was muy delicioso! We finished our perfect day off by heading back to our home-stays and eating dinner.
Pura Vida!
