Day 15 - Roots and Relationships

 Hey, it’s Sophie!

Today my group went to the school. It is always so heartwarming to see all the kids lined up at the fence waiting for us and seeing their faces light up when we pull in. After greeting the kids, we worked on printing, cutting, and laminating cards for the kids to learn words in English. We then had rice, beans, and beef for lunch, and we played tag with them before they went home. When we said our goodbyes for the second to last time, it was clear that we were all disappointed our community project was coming to an end. However, I think I speak for everyone when I say I am so grateful for the friendships and memories I have made here.

Hi it’s Juliet!

On the farm today we had a great time meeting more of Daniel’s family. His two daughters and their families just finished moving into the farm yesterday. It was so nice to meet Josue, who’s nine, and he helped us work on our projects today. We had a great time while listening to music as we split into two groups. Sebastian and Sage packaged dirt and coffee sprouts to put into the newly made garden area that Anya, Kai, and I made. After finishing our garden project we went to look at our final project, for tomorrow, where we are helping Daniel make fish ponds. We’re all excited to work in the water tomorrow!

We talked to the group that worked at the women’s co-op, who reported a fun and  relaxing day. To start the day they ate some delicious and fresh watermelon. Today’s project was at the AirBnB, one of the newer places at the Co-op, they planted blueberry plants. It became an eventful day when Kieran picked up a frog in the bathroom, and went around showing everyone before it hopped out of his hands toward Quinn. Walter also showed the group a bullet ant  and they went to see a beautiful waterfall and admire the spray.

Pura vida,

Sophie and Juliet
